I used to write this blog simply for my internship purposes.
I’m not much of a writer and I don’t like to pen down my thoughts as much.
However, I think a lot. I analyze, over analyze, and do it all over again. To
ease up my thoughts a bit, I decided I would pen it all down. Perhaps take the
burden of all these thoughts off my shoulders a bit…
I
will write about various topics, some serious, some not so much. But I'll keep it
all in simple terms. This is purely to free up my mind. These blog posts are
not at all factual. They are my opinions based on observations and past
experiences. I do not intend to preach anyone. Your choice whether you want to
take it that way!
The
lack of discipline leads to a major fiasco all together. Living with discipline
shapes one to be a confident and a hard working individual. Having lived abroad
for ten years, I can’t help but notice the vast differences between Western and
Indian culture. I agree Indians are very intelligent. They are talented. They
have a TON of potential. But without discipline, it all comes down to a waste.
Studying
in an Indian college, I notice the gaping holes in the system that need to
fixed up. But you can’t blame the system all together. It also comes down to the people and how they influence the system through their decisions. There is absolutely no
consciousness in hard work or sincerity. Everyone wants to achieve through
shortcuts! Nobody is willing to grind through the sweat and tears to succeed. I
have seen students cheat. Teachers forgive them. Students plead teachers to
postpone deadlines. And worst of
all, the ones who do work their butts off hardly get any appreciation!
Why
should it be like that? Why are we so prone to taking the short way out and not
really work our way up? Perhaps this is the root of corruption that lies in every
nook and corner of our country, I feel. It may be because life is chaotic, and
the country is squirming with billions of people that nobody really wants to
work at all! But criticizing and making up excuses like this will get us
nowhere. All we do is debate and talk about problems, but never really work
towards the solutions.
Solutions?
There needs to be sincerity, honesty, and integrity first of all. Only through
that can we work towards discipline. When one is honest with oneself, the rest
will just come. Our teachers, parents, as well as the students need to be
reminded about the basic morals and values of society. India is such a cultured
country, they say. My friends have had a terrific impression of this country
through my endless raves about India. I feel now like the biggest
walking contradiction out there.
I
really don’t want readers to get a wrong impression of India. And I don’t want
to generalize with all these observations. I am purely expressing my thoughts
out of personal experience. I love my country. I am happy to be back. However,
I look at certain problems and think why us? Why can’t we be like the super
powers of this world? I want to feel proud as an Indian. We are good at
empowering and inspiring the youth with brilliant ideas. But ideas are not
enough. We need to enforce what we think.
Honor, pride, integrity, and discipline. It’s in our blood. We just need
to re-discover these qualities within us.
